In Santa Monica, family-run Italian places are busiest on weekend evenings and around holidays, when reservations or call-ahead seating are worth it. BYOB is common at smaller restaurants in some states, with a modest corkage fee or none at all; the listing or a quick call will tell you. Wing-and-pizza shops across California do most of their business by delivery and price wings by the piece or in fixed counts, with sauce heat adjustable on request. Catering trays, party pizzas and sheet pies need a day's notice at most places, and more around big game days.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–4 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach Tartine Santa Monica at (424) 330-2767; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, tartinebakery.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 1,069 reviews, which is a strong result for an italian deli in Santa Monica and suggests consistent service.

Santa Monica is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Santa Monica follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Cute little gem with a really fresh, chic sitting area loved the atmosphere. I had the salmon tartine and my husband the tres leches. The smoked salmon tartine was the star the lemon notes and spices hit just right, really yummy. The coffee was decent and the tres leches cake was good, not very sweet. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come back but if I’m in the Santa Monica area, I’d definitely stop in again.

Nice place! Warm out so we sat outside. Food was very good. Spendy, but this is Monica. For example, there was a slice of chocolate cake, a slice, like less than an inch thick, for $6.50. To compare a coffee shop in my home town of Seattle called Herkimer sells similar for $4.00.

Tartine Santa Monica is a beautiful cafe surrounded by other cute places. Looks like it used to be an old church. Lots of seating inside and out. Had to wait in a line but it went pretty fast and we were able to checkout all the amazing fresh baked goods while we waited. The staff and service wasn’t great. They were not welcoming or friendly. They were having a conversation while I stood there. I finally said hello and they acted like I was interrupting their break. The food and coffee were very good! I ordered a latte, the farmers bowl, and a brownie! So tasty and fresh! I even tried recreating it home and it just was not the same. Prices were a little high. Overall, you should check it out if you are in the area, just know you might have to wait, it’s expensive, and the staff might be rude.

Absolutely amazing experience at Tartine Santa Monica. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, stylish, and inviting. The pastries are next-level β€” perfectly flaky, rich, and not overly sweet. The bread is clearly made with incredible care and craftsmanship, and you can really taste the quality in every bite. I especially loved the morning bun and the country loaf β€” both were outstanding. The coffee was also excellent and paired perfectly with the food. Staff were friendly, efficient, and made the whole experience even better. It’s definitely a spot worth going out of your way for. Easily a 5-star bakery and one of the best in the area. Highly recommend!

Came here to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday. While this place is known for its bread, the real surprise was the burger. It was incredibly juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned, with a house-made sauce that elevated the whole dish. I have no idea what was in it, but it worked. I would absolutely order it again.
